  • To manage the inpatient service within Dorking Community Hospital ensuring patients receive safe and compassionate care and experience a great service.
  • To provide leadership within the multidisciplinary team and be responsible for the assessment of needs of the client and the development, implementation and evaluation of a programme of care within agreed standards.
  • To undertake continued responsibility for the management of the wards patient case load.
  • To facilitate the admission and discharge activity for the patient pathways within the ward and participate in the organisations capacity management arrangements.
  • To lead, aid and facilitate changes within the service both clinically and operationally.
  • To ensure there is on-going learning and development offered to the team members.
  • To lead and facilitate patient focused, innovative research based practise, in line with the organisations objectives.
  • To have overall responsibility for the cleanliness of the ward, ensuring all team members adhere to best practice in infection prevention and control.

  • Actively seek the views of patients and carers in the process of evaluating care provision within the ward/department.
  • Constantly promote the importance of the patient experience within the ward and department.
  • Develop a culture within the ward and department that supports all team members to actively contribute to the clinical governance agenda.
  • To be accountable for assessments, care planning and prescribing appropriately for the client group.
  • Lead team to involve, enable, support and educate family/carers.
  • Lead team to promote the health of clients and the provision of support and advice.
  • To be responsible for planning cover, appropriate staffing and skill mix ensuring adequate cover at all times.
  • To provide specialist knowledge and advice to influence the organisations strategic agenda.
  • To maintain clear and comprehensive, signed and contemporaneous records according to the organisations procedures.

  • Ensure appropriate systems are in place to monitor, develop and review the quality of care through clinical audit and benchmarking, taking action to ensure that patient care is improved in line with the organisation requirements.

  • To provide assistance with the resolution of complaints within the clinical speciality sphere of responsibility.
  • To have the ability to negotiate and work effectively across all agencies for the maximum effectiveness of care.
  • To be aware of and act upon when necessary, procedures that are in place to protect vulnerable individuals.
  • To lead and implement the organisations clinical governance strategy within your practice area, facilitating and instigating clinical audit and monitoring of care.
  • To lead and implement the organisations risk management strategy within your practise area, ensuring that all processes are adhered to.
  • To maintain own professional and clinical integrity in line with NMC guidelines.
