Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a systemic family psychotherapist to join a full recruited well established children and young people's community eating disorders service hosted by Bradford Aire Wharfe Craven CAMHS. The successful applicant will join a 13.5 equivalent multi disciplinary team including psychology, psychiatry, nursing, CBT therapy, mental health practitioner and associate practitioner roles. We have a close working relationship with our paediatric colleagues who support with in patient re feeding when necessary. The family therapy FT AN, FT BN approach is at our core and we also offer a parent group, adjunct therapies, neurodevelopmental assessment and medication initiation and monitoring.

Main duties of the job

• Work as an effective member of the multi disciplinary team bringing psychological theory and knowledge to the wider team via joint work, consultation, reflective spaces, supervision and team formulations.
• Work with autonomous professional judgement, together with other psychological therapists, to deliver specialist evidence based assessment, formulation and therapy to individual and groups of patients.
• Manage a designated caseload of patients with responsibility for their assessment (including clinical risk), implementation and evaluation of therapy.

Qualifications

Essential

• Specialist post graduate training to Masters level in Systemic Family Therapy (MSc) AND Accreditation from Association of Family Therapists (AFT)

Desirable

• Leadership training
• Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience
• Training in advanced clinical supervision
• Training in trauma informed care

Experience

Essential

• Significant experience in mental health practise with children, young people and families
• Application of evidenced based specialist psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service
• Application of specialist psychological therapy within individual and group modality
• Clinical leadership experience
• Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
• Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
• Experience in working systemically
• Significant post qualification experience and training (minimum 2 years)
• Experience delivering psychological therapies to patients with complex difficulties
• Experience of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

• Involvement in innovative clinical practice
• Involvement in clinical research programmes
• Involvement in the development and provision of clinical teaching programmes
• Experience of leading or participating in regular reflective practice around themes such as anti-racism in therapy, power in mental health, the impact of health inequality and cultural curiosity
• Experience working within a trauma informed framework

Essential

• A range of Evidenced based psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service
• Relevant specialist clinical courses/training
• Able to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress both directly with children and their families and indirectly via supervision or case reviews with other staff
• Evidence of a high level of understanding of systemic practise
• Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

• Doctoral / master's level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis
• Knowledge and understanding of wider cultural and religious models of mental health for example Islamic psychology, British South Asian communities, Roma communities or beliefs around Black Magic

Skills

Essential

• Be able to meet the service needs for mobility across the geographical area covered
• Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
• Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
• Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, psychological formulation, intervention and management
• Skills in individual and group work and in programme planning
• Able to make autonomous decisions using judgement
• Ability to supervise learners and other staff
• Competent clinical skills i.e. assessment, formulation and therapeutic.

Desirable

• Competent teaching skills.
• Fluency in one or more of Bradford's community languages
