The dietetics department at Salisbury hospital are looking for a newly graduated dietitian or an experienced band 5 who wishes to get more clinical experience in a busy district general hospital. Our small but friendly team have an excellent reputation throughout the hospital and are highly respected by our clinical teams.
We would welcome dietitians who are due to graduate this year and can support employment prior to HPCP registration. We have an established preceptorship programme to support new graduates and are committed to continue to support further education and development.
Salisbury Hospital rates nutrition highly and boasts specialist services in Burns, Plastics, Spinal Injuries and trauma rehabilitation. We have a forward thinking and innovative nutrition support team whose dietitians carry out a number of extended roles, including assisting the GI team to put in gastrostomy tubes.
Working as a band 5 dietitian in Salisbury has given me a wealth of experience in specialist areas. Staying here for a Band 6 role demonstrates just how fantastic a team, and a hospital, it is to work in. I cannot recommend this opportunity enough Hermione Brandt - Acute Dietitian.
Main duties of the job
Roles will include provision of acute inpatient dietetic support to the inpatient wards in Salisbury District Hospital.
The post holders will liaise and support medical and nursing staff on the dietetic and nutritional management of patients in the following areas:
General Medicine, General surgery, Orthopaedics, Elderly Care.
The role will be supported by Advanced Dietetic Practitioners and Band 6 Dietitians who provide specialist care to the Stroke, GI service, Burns, Oncology, Paediatric and Spinal services.
You will also be involved in the implementation of MUST across the hospital, working jointly with other health professionals in many specialties including SLT, tissue viability, stoma care and the therapy teams.
Please see attached Job description and person specification for full details of roles and responsibilities.
