An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic nurse to join the Emotional Health and Resilience team, within Northumberland 0-19 Service. The post holder will work to improve the lives of children and young people with mental health and emotional needs by minimising the impact of their difficulties through the delivery of excellent services to promote recovery and wellbeing.
The post holder will be integrated within the 0-19 services providing advice, consultation, training and professional support for staff in the children's workforce to enable them to address, in the most effective way, the mental health and emotional needs of children and young people already in their care.
The Emotional Health and Resilience team will work in partnership with other children and young people's services across Northumberland and contribute to the development and implementation of integrated pathways and joint working initiatives to ensure children and young people receive support in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Northumberland 0-19 Emotional Health and Resilience team to provide support and intervention to children and young people experiencing mild-moderate emotional health difficulties
Promotes and maintains safety, privacy and dignity of all children and young people in the delivery of patient centred care, recognising and respecting differences including spiritual and cultural beliefs
To obtain patient consent to care and treatment (or consent from theperson with parental responsibility), in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act and Fraser Guidelines, ensuring that children and young people who lack mental capacity remain at the centre of decision-making and are fully safeguarded.
Responsible for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of children and young people are maintained and that care is delivered in accordance with evidence based practice at all times. Patients have a range of mental health or emotional needs of mild to moderate severity (including issues relating to child abuse, domestic violence etc.), may have difficult family or social situations of relevance and may demonstrate behaviours that challenge at initial assessment or as a result of unexpected changes during programme of therapy.
