We welcome applications from current Band 6 or experienced Band 5s with a passion for respiratory physiotherapy, with experience in acute care across multiple specialities, who are motivated to learn & progress. You will be supported by Team Leaders / Deputy Team Leaders on each rotation to develop core Respiratory assessment & treatment skills.

Main duties of the job

Become part of our innovative team covering inpatient and outpatient services including our on-call, twilight and weekend working provision.

Rotations are in the following areas Transplant & Cardiac Surgery, Cardiology, Thoracic & PEA Surgery, ICU, Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Respiratory Medicine Wards (including Bronchiectasis, ILD, & Pulmonary Hypertension) and Cystic Fibrosis.

What we provide to you:

Support and teaching to enable you to provide excellent patient care across all rotational areas

Specialist departmental and team in service training

Regular one to ones, clinical supervision, appraisals, and competency support

In house courses and access to external courses and conferences

Involvement with expert multi-disciplinary teams

Advanced skill teaching and support including ECMO rehab, ventricular assist devices, Nebulised drug challenges, tracheostomy weaning and decannulation.

Opportunity for Service development projects and involvement with audits

Participation in research.

Support and guidance for you to mentor students and junior staff.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of common cardiac & respiratory conditions and treatment options
  • Able to demonstrate sound clinical reasoning
  • Awareness of current cardiorespiratory evidence base and guidelines
  • Demonstrable proactive interest in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy


Desirable

  • Working knowledge of NHS priorities and initiatives

Qualifications

  • BSc physiotherapy, Grad. Dip. Physiotherapy, or pre-registration MSc

  • Experience managing cardiorespiratory patients independently including critical care, medical and surgical patients
  • Experience of rehabilitation in complex patients
  • Experience of on call and weekend working
  • Evidence of on-going professional development demonstrated by a portfolio


Desirable

  • Relevant postgraduate cardiorespiratory physiotherapy courses
  • Awareness of audit / service
  • improvement and / or research projects
  • Experience of supervision & mentorship of junior staff or students
