An exciting opportunity has arisen at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) as the Trust seeks a Divisional Nurse for Surgery and Cancer services

Main duties of the job

  • Provide effective nursing input into the development of Divisional Strategy, Policy and the Business Planning
  • On behalf of the Divisional Director, ensure the effective management of the pay and non- pay budgets relating to the nursing workforce.
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional nursing leadership across the Division ensuring appropriate structures are in place to provide high quality, compassionate and safe
  • Leading by example, support the successful implementation and delivery of the Trusts transformation and improving practice

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Provide advanced professional nursing knowledge and expertise to support all disciplines within the Division .
  • Demonstrate an understanding of required clinical skills, and practice such skills regularly and where appropriate and
  • Interpret overall health service policy and strategy, in order to establish the Divisions goals and standards for Harm Free
  • Contribute as required to Trust responses to Regulator, Professional Bodies, NHS England, NHS Improvement, Local Area Teams and the Clinical Commissioning Groups on initiatives relating to nursing/ midwifery and quality, ensuring local
  • Play an active role as a member of the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Team, contributing to the planning and development of the Trusts Professional
  • Provide guidance, support and courageous leadership to all nursing staff.
  • Be highly visible, approachable and available to respond to patients, relatives and the Maintain open and honest communication channels.
  • Monitor clinical standards to ensure high quality compassionate patient Ensuring practice is evidence based and that clinical guidelines and care pathways are developed and implemented to reflect best practice
  • Contribute to, lead and provide professional advice to specific Trust-wide projects and programmes.
  • Be familiar with the Major Incident and CBRNE related plans and the Divisions role within that

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial nurse management experience at Matron level or above, in NHS setting
  • Experience of managing services, including finance, business, HR
  • Experience of change and Project Management
  • Evidence of service innovation
  • Fully conversant with the national nursing agenda and the impact of national initiatives on the profession
  • Evidence of managing budgets
  • Evidence of having developed new initiatives, including multi-professional working
  • Evidence of strategic working
  • Ability to write senior level documents
  • Working in a challenging and busy Environment
  • Ability to demonstrate and apply extensive knowledge of safeguarding in the context of staff and patients


Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a similar role in an acute Trust
  • Participated in or facilitated nursing related research activities
  • Recognized training/qualification in clinical governance


Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience, or first degree with evidence of further academic/ Personal
  • RN Level 1
  • Development


Desirable

  • Service Improvement Skills
