The new post holder will be required to maintain the existing high standards of clinical care provision to the patients and manage a team of highly skilled and experienced nurses.

Due to the merger of both Bedford Hospital and Luton Dunstable Hospitals, into one trust there will be a requirement to travel and work across sites, with the respective Hospital at Home Team Manager. With the premise of continuing the service alignment and sharing best practice.

The post holder will be required to work during the week, covering 5 days, with the ability to be flexible for weekend working.

The post holder will be taking on an exciting opportunity to develop the service further and work with external partners and internal services for the provision nursing care in the patients homes, this includes intravenous antibiotics.

Sharing best practice and benchmarking with the view of providing up to date and key treatment will be essential in furthering development

Main duties of the job

  • To be part of the 309 Senior Nurse on Call rota
  • To maintain safe staffing levels for all shifts
  • To facilitate admission avoidance pathways and early supported discharges
  • Audits, monthly, weekly
  • Teaching/training both nursing, medical , allied staff and students
  • HR management of staff
  • Undertaking comprehensive assessment to determine suitability for treatment at home, on the admission avoidance or early supported discharge pathways
  • Managing a team to provide a 7 day service
  • Ensure the provision of high clinical standards
  • To provide a monthly report to the matron, to ensuring quality performance, within a given structure
  • To maintain and be responsible for accurate , live statistics for the service, which are internally/externally and upwardly reportable

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered healthcare professional with current relevant registration
  • Evidence of continuing clinical and professional development
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent


Desirable

  • Educated to Masters/Degree level, completion of a clinical leadership programme or equivalent
  • Relevant teaching qualification/certificate


Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of leading a team and coordinating workload
  • Substantive experience in an acute care setting
  • Staffing and resource management

  • Effective clinical leadership and experience in the management of change
