The Chaplaincy Team at the Countess of Chester Hospital is seeking to appoint a part-time Christian Chaplain (ordained) with some experience in Healthcare Chaplaincy.

Applicants must display a passion for pastoral care, be highly motivated with good interpersonal skills.

Main duties of the job

The Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care Team at The Countess contributes to the Holistic care of patients, relatives and friends by seeking to address their spiritual and religious needs. The Chaplaincy also supports staff and acts as a resource for them.

The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a Spiritual Care Team in a busy and developing Hospital community. They will be accountable to the Head of Chaplaincy Services and will be expected to deputise in his absence.

The post will require a commitment of 15 hours per week, the days and times of working to be negotiated, to include a regular commitment to and participation in the 24/7 'on call' rota and Sunday Services. A willingness to be flexible in working hours will be necessary.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is �23 (standard) or �43 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

Essential

  • Degree/Diploma in Theology


Desirable

  • Strong IT skills - Microsoft Excel / Access / Word / PowerPoint / Outlook
  • Supervisory / Management certificate or qualification


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years' experience as an Ordained Minister


Desirable

  • Some experience in Chaplaincy
