We are delighted to share this exciting opportunity to join our lovely team.

The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist assessment and intervention to service users, as an integral and valued member of the Macmillan Psychology Service.

The role also involves provision of teaching, advice, consultation and supervision regarding clients' psychological care to non-psychology colleagues. The post holder will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of individual, family and group psychotherapeutic interventions with support from our assistant psychologist. The service works in collaboration with a range of voluntary agencies as well as other Trust services. The service is provided within a range of settings including hospital and hospice inpatient units, care homes, community clinics and, where necessary, in patients' homes.

We work alongside a supportive wider Cancer and Palliative Care Psychology team. There is a genuine focus on staff development and wellbeing.

This is a Permanent post however, if the funding for this post is not made recurrent, then the successful candidate would be redeployed to a vacancy within another one of the Trust's Services.

Main duties of the job

We welcome applications from Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, Family Therapists, Psychotherapists, CBT therapists or Counsellors, with an interest in working in Cancer and Palliative Care.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the establishment of a new Psychology service for Cancer and Palliative Care patients across West Essex with a supportive wider team. We will work alongside the already established and successful ICB Cancer and Palliative Care Psychology Services in West Essex and East and North Hertfordshire. We are passionate about providing equality and equity of psychological care across the ICB.

We work across acute, community and hospice settings. There will be direct and indirect work with adults, families/carers and members of the multidisciplinary teams, together with consultation, supervision and training to other professionals. You will offer a mixture of face to face appointments (at clinic, acute settings and home visits), and remote consultation via telephone or video.

The post holder will work closely with another psychologist and assistant psychologist working in the speciality. We connect with the other Cancer and Palliative Care Psychology Services for meetings and support.

We really value our staff and team. As well as supervision and team reflective spaces we ensure we make space for our wellbeing e.g. we recently arranged and enjoyed a creative workshop.
