Job summary
We have new exciting opportunities for Registered operating department practitioners to join our friendly, professional, experienced teams working across our new dental procedure rooms, adult and Paediatric operating theatres.
Our ODP/ Anaesthetic nurse roles are full time, working 37.5 hours per week with a variable working pattern including rotation between day and night shifts across a seven day working week (part-time hours considered).
The Royal London Hospital is an internationally reputable Trauma Centre and is home to the London Air Ambulance, Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS).
We currently have 26 state-of-the art elective and emergency theatres, covering a variety of specialties and complex procedures:
Hepto-billary, complex ENT, trauma & orthopaedics, reconstructive orthopaedics, neurosurgery, complex vascular surgery, intervention radiology, maxilla facial surgery, robotic procedures, renal transplants, plastic reconstructive surgery, neonatal surgery, shared airway ENT, ophthalmic surgery, along with providing paediatric expertise to the major trauma service in South East of England

As a senior ODP/Anaesthetic Practitioner you will be expected to assist Anaesthetists in safe care, not only in a theatre setting but outlying areas, such as Imaging suites and Emergency Services department. You should be proactive, flexible and have a keen eye for detail to maintain our excellent care standards. We will provide comprehensive training in various capacities including Trauma, Neonates and advanced airway techniques to enhance your skills to meet our challenging work place.

The post holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational supervision of the department; including a budgetary awareness, clinical governance, staff development and training. The post holder will be expected to provide professional leadership within the clinical area and provide direction and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi- disciplinary team within the area for which they are accountable for. The post holder will be involved in the development of protocols / guidelines and patient information.

- BSc/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience
- Mentorship course
- Intermediate Life Support Provider
- RN1/ RN2 or RN12 Registered Nurse on the NMC register/Operating Department Practitioner on the HCPC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
