Job summary

This Clinical Fellow post would suit applicants wishing either for further experience in Quality Improvement Projects, education and critical care medicine whilst they are planning to develop their career.

Applicants for this post will have the opportunity to work alongside CT and ST trainees from Anaesthetics and Medicine in a post recognised for advanced Intensive Care training. They will benefit from a full active weekly teaching programme and will complete Workplace Assessments and Competencies in Intensive Care Medicine. They will also have the opportunity to take part in research, and career development is supported and strongly encouraged.

Main duties of the job

The Sepsis Fellow would be expected to perform the following roles:
  • Actively involved in developing and delivery sepsis pathways within the trust.
  • Auditing the outcomes of Sepsis patients in the trust.
  • Sepsis related projects in quality improvement and audit will be actively encouraged.
  • Would have the opportunity to participate in multicentre sepsis trials the unit is part of already and those in the future.
  • Expect to submit and present findings to HQI meetings.
  • We have an annual presence and present our research at the ESICM Annual Congress.
  • Teach and train doctors the Sepsis pathway and management of septic patients.

    Job responsibilities

    Job Summary:
    • This Senior Clinical Fellow post would suit applicants with previous experience of critical care medicine and training in any acute speciality seeking to enhance this experience at a higher level of training.
    • Applicants should be at CT2+ (or equivalent) level of training or above.
    • Proficiency in anaesthesia/airway management is highly desirable but not essential.
    • This fellowship is open to trainees with an interest in improving quality of care provided to sepsis patients whilst maintaining clinical skills and taking up a leadership role.

    One clinical fellow post is available from August 2023 for an initial six months, but maybe extended for a further six months by mutual agreement.

    This post will place the successful candidate in a dynamic ICU which actively participates in various National and International research projects.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice.


    Experience

    Essential

    • Previous experience of critical care medicine and training in any acute speciality.


    Desirable

    • Proficiency in anaesthesia/airway management is highly desirable but not essential.
    • Audit Experience.
