The role of Chief Operating Officer is a crucial one for the Trust. The successful candidate will work closely with health and care partners across Portsmouth and South East Hampshire acting as Senior Responsible Officer for Urgent Care transformation programmes.
We are also developing the acute services partnership between Portsmouth Hospitals University Trust and Isle of Wight NHS Trust to help tackle the long-standing challenges of delivering high quality, safe, and sustainable healthcare services to our populations. Penny Emerit, Chief Executive at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, has been confirmed as the new Chief Executive at Isle of Wight NHS Trust and will now oversee both Trusts, supported by experienced site leaders in Portsmouth and on the Island.

Main duties of the job
As an Executive Director, and member of the Trust Board, you will contribute to the collective decision-making of the Board and take shared responsibility for the overall success and future direction of the Trust.
You will provide strong and effective leadership and advice to ensure all Trust staff deliver consistently safe, effective and high-quality care to patients.
Lead the development and delivery of the Trusts principal integrated clinical, operational and financial service objectives and targets, by ensuring the efficient and effective management of all operational services.
Ensure the Trust has effective relationships and partnerships that participate in all appropriate aspects of healthcare development within the local health economy, and beyond.
Leadership of all divisions, ensuring the structure is fit for purpose with effective and consistent performance monitoring processes implemented and maintained, against which the contribution and effectiveness of all services are measured and reported appropriately.
Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for urgent care across the sustainability and transformation partnership (STP).
