North Warwickshire IPU 3-8, Community Mental health & Wellbeing Team is a service arranged around individual needs.

This post sits within the Non-Psychosis, pathway. This includes people with emotion regulation difficulties, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD symptoms, and eating disorders which do not meet the threshold for the Eating disorder service.

Our Team covers the locality of North Warwickshire. We have two bases, one in Nuneaton & one in Rugby and we work across both bases.

We are looking for staff with experience of assessing and working with people with complex and significant mental health problems or who wish to develop such skills . We see this as an ideal opportunity to further develop specialist skills. It is important you have good communication skills and can work on your own initiative as well as collaboratively with colleagues. A willingness and enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop your practice is vital.

This team provides interventions on a one to one basis and group formats. You will have the opportunity to participate and run groups and you will be given training within the team for this. Therefore, a willingness to deliver group intervention would be desirable. Above all it is vital that you have a sense of humour if you wish to join our team.

Main duties of the job

The team has invested in considerable staff training and development over the years to develop staff skills with working with our patient group. Working within an established team, you'll be managing a caseload of clients who have complex mental health problems and delivering a range of interventions. As a successful candidate you will have the opportunity to build your skills and confidence. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using evidence-based approaches and time limited interventions. You'll be communicating with a wide variety of clients professionals partners and agencies.

As part of working in our team you will be working with some individuals who can present as chaotic & emotionally dysregulated. This can be a challenging patient group, however, we have a positive attitude & non-judgemental approach toward our patient group, understanding what has brought them to their current presentation, recognising individual strengths and establishing clear, focussed, professional relationships that identify clear boundaries and expectations for both the patient and clinician. This empowers both patient and clinician to see what can be achieved through clear collaborative care planning.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Working for our Team offers you the opportunity to develop some excellent specialist skills and take part in imaginative and effective interventions. Time is spent investing in your development and there are lots of opportunities to shadow colleagues on duty, during assessments and on visits when you first join us. There are a lot of training opportunities within the team and time is given to allow you to access this. This will allow you to confidently undertake the role of care co-ordination, eventually leading to managing a full caseload, being part of a duty team and undertaking trusted assessments. The nature of the team means that you bring your knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and empathy and are exposed to the knowledge and skills of other colleagues within the team which promotes growth and development within your own practice at an accelerated rate. We are a team that recognises the work we do can be difficult at times and we have a strong supportive approach, both in professional matters and passing on good practice, learning and sharing risk but also when it impacts on us personally. We recognise the value in Supervision, and this is why we ensure we offer a range, including CBT supervision, Peer Supervision, Caseload Supervision & Development Supervision (MES). They are well spaced, and this is something the team feel adds to the varying levels of support and shared responsibility.
