Job summary

This is an exciting post for an enthusiastic doctor at FY3 (or above) or a current trainee looking for an Out of programme (OOPE) opportunity. This post is mostly based in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and with some commitment to the Sexual Health department. In addition,it provides a unique opportunity to gain experience in Medical Education in the NHS Trust.

The post will involve working with dynamic teams to establish and deliver innovative and integrated programmes for the medical students both from King's College London (KCL) and Kent & Medway Medical School (KMMS). It is programmed to deliver 60% educational and 40% clinical commitments including on-calls. It also provides an opportunity to enrol for a fully funded PG-Cert in Medical education.

Main duties of the job

The postholder is responsible for teaching and supporting undergraduate medical students during their placements in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Sexual Health departments. This role will involve direct teaching, pastoral care, examination preparation and assessments. The postholder will also be encouraged to support the postgraduate education activities of the department, including MDT obstetric emergency training and simulation training.There is a 40% WTE on-call commitment on the junior grade or middle grade tier, allowing the successful candidate to maintain their clinical expertise while working in the Trust.

Around 140,000 new patients present each year to the A&E departments. Its major hospitals are the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury and Maidstone Hospital.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Work with the Specialty Faculty to improve and deliver the Undergraduate Teaching and Induction programmes.

Participate in the delivery of core teaching and clinical skills for Undergraduates on placement at MTW.

Support exam practice

Attend relevant Medical School meetings, the Undergraduate Local Faculty Group, the Trust KMMS Steering Group and Trust KMMS Year Group Placement meetings as appropriate.

Acting as tutor / mentor for Y4 KCL & KMMS students during their clinical placements.

Facilitating case-based tutorials during the clinical placement.
