Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Trainee Emergency Practitioner ENP/ECP Adult Emergency Department.

Our Emergency Departmenthas fantastic opportunities for an experienced Emergency Nurse and/or paramedic, to undertake a structured, supervised trainee role which will include undertaking the APICA module at UWE to become a qualified autonomous practitioner within the Bristol Royal Infirmary Emergency Department.

Due to the expansion of the team and an enlarged ED footprint, we have some fantastic opportunities for you to join our brilliant team of supportive, enthusiastic and friendly autonomous practitioners

If you are:
  • A nurse or paramedic with relevant experience working in urgent or emergency department settings
  • Experienced in managing a wide range of patients presenting with injury and illness
  • Keen to develop your scope of practice, depth of knowledge and clinical expertise including history taking, clinical examination, clinical reasoning and decision making skills
  • Looking to join an exceptional ED multidisciplinary team

Located in the heart of the vibrant city of Bristol, you will be working in the gateway to the glorious South West. Main duties of the job

Our ENP/ECP team in this inner city ED comprises 23 autonomous practitioners delivering a high quality 24-hour service 7 days a week.

There is protected teaching each week, and a supportive culture in which to learn new skills. There are a variety of roles in the team which everyone rotates through; clinician, streaming, and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).

The ED has strong links with the local university and the Emergency Practitioner course, and MSc in Advanced Practice.

The successful candidate will be offered a 12 month fixed term contract, during which, they will be expected to complete the APICA course, and then the departmental capabilities which underpin the role. During the 12 months the candidate will be supported by a mentor and will be working at AFC Band 6. Successful completion will result in progression to an AFC Band 7 position.

  • Demonstrated ability to support colleagues
  • Proven evidence of educational support to others
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload effectively


Desirable

  • Competence in wound management assessment and closure


Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered Health Care Professional
  • NMC/HCPC/Registration
  • Evidence of formal ongoing professional development in the specialist area
  • Teaching Qualification or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Working towards masters in Advanced Practice
