The post holder will be responsible for the provision of information through analysis, interpretation and investigation to support operational delivery, service planning & management, performance and transformation. This is a senior post within the Performance and Informatics department and therefore will be expected to work on their own initiative providing high level information analysis, systems development skills and expertise to define and establish reporting requirements to improve operational delivery and contributing to the development of the Trust's analytics provision.
The post holder will work in a matrix management structure and will work alongside a team of analysts to produce high quality analysis and intelligence and will be proactive in the improvement of the use of information throughout the Trust, including leading in the development of information reporting through the business intelligence portal.

Main duties of the job
Carry out complex analysis to support Trust staff at all levels, offering guidance and interpretation to ensure the analysis is both appropriate and useful. Producing comparisons, trends, summary and narrative and investigating any areas requiring further investigation, ensuring analysis methodology is documented and a systematic approach is taken.
Produce internal and external information in support of the business of the Trust in an accurate and timely manner, summarising complex data and information and presenting findings to various technical and non-technical groups including delivering formal presentations to large groups where necessary. Highlighting difficulties in data quality, completeness and/or interpretation of management information as appropriate.
Be proactive in the initiation of information analyses, suggesting information reports, scenario modelling, interpretation and forecasting trends, providing analysis and advise on information for future programmes of work and service delivery.

Job responsibilities
Utilise experience, knowledge, judgement and skills to develop and improve information reporting systems for operational and strategic monitoring of patient-based information in line with National data requirements and definitions. This will be achieved using a variety of reporting tools and a combination of advanced procedures in MS Excel, Access and SQL Server.
Analyse and interpret trends and advise on information for service planning, undertaking patient activity forecasting as required. Undertake capacity and business planning information analysis.
Utilise appropriate skills and software to advise on and enable simulation, predictive analysis and scenario testing to inform decision making by performance and operational leads.
Lead discussion with the operational teams to identify and implement data requirements and adaptations as necessary to support the project within set timescales.
Liaise with the Operational Performance Analytics Manager, members of the Department and the wider Organisation as appropriate to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and milestones are developed to measure and monitor the progress of delivery.
Leads on service development in own specialist areas, proposes changes and develops and implements policy for this area, ensuring processes are robust, efficient and well documented.
Utilise appropriate benchmarking tools for example Telstra Health and Model Hospital to identify and model areas of potential service improvement from analysis of peers.
Ensure mandatory external returns are submitted on time and are fully validated.
Participate in local and national audits by ensuring data is sourced and available as required.
Improve and streamline existing process and systems to promote greater efficiency and effectiveness within specialist information systems.
Take an active role in improving data quality. Be proactive in the solution of any inconsistencies and incompleteness of data that may occur, identifying the causes and design and implement any changes required, giving a solution to the problem.
