Job summary
We are looking for a middle grade doctor with excellent personal values and commitment to patient care. You will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team at Holcombe ward, helping patients progress in their care pathway towards low secure wards or directly to the community. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to join a friendly, supportive and experienced team.The post holder will work directly with experienced Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists.
The role will appeal to individuals who wish to have a challenging but satisfying workload and to be part of an established, highly regarded service.
You will be supported in developing excellent relational security skills and risk assessment and management of patients, majority of whom have come in contact with the criminal justice system due to their mental health difficulties. Opportunities will be there to get trained in structured professional judgement tools like HCR-20 and DUNDRUM. You will be part of an excellent medical peer group who are very supportive. Close supervision and help will be available at all times. You will be supported to engage in CPD, audit and QI projects. You will also be supported to engage in projects that are in alignment with the directorates vision and needs.
Main duties of the job
Your primary duties will include responding to mental and physical health needs of 15 inpatients in a medium secure ward. You will have very close supervision available from a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and will also be supported by the site GP for management of more complex physical health conditions. You will be expected to do regular mental state examinations of patients under your care and provide reports and feedback for 4 weekly care review meetings for each patient and also their 6 monthly CPA meetings. You will be expected to take part in daytime frontline rota to cover emergency physical and mental health situations on wards where the middle grade clinician is on leave. You will be expected to take part in weekly doctors meeting and academic meetings. You will have opportunity to take part in teaching undergraduate students on placement at Langdon Hospital.

- MB BS or equivalent.
