The Neuro-rehabilitation team at Basildon Hospital is seeking a forward thinking and dynamic Band-6 Physiotherapist to cover maternity leave (22.50 hours per week).The successful candidate will need to work holistically within the MDT and utilise their profession specific skill set to deliver high quality care and support to the patients with neuro diagnosis.

Main duties of the job

  • Perform specialist physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse neurology presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and to develop and deliver a specialised individual treatment programme.
  • To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Participate in CPD and other departmental activities.
  • Supervise staff in Neuro rehabilitation Setting at a lower grade and students (own discipline)
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care, working without direct supervision.
  • Maintain respiratory competencies to facilitate participation in out of hours service as required
  • To deputise for the Band 7 in their absence, taking responsibility for operational management of the team; allocating and organising the work of Junior and Assistant staff to meet service priorities on a daily basis. To cover other physiotherapists in time of need.
  • Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and teams practice within department.
  • Work within Trust Guidelines and CSP Guidelines, and to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards, and monitor own and others' quality of practice as appropriate.
  • To participate with the evening, weekend and statutory holiday on-call duties.
