Opportunities have arisen within Fromeside Secure Service. We are looking for passionate Registered Mental Health Nurses to join Wellow Ward. The successful candidate would be working closely with the Acute cluster Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), Modern Matron and an experienced Wellow nursing team.

Wellow Ward is an 8 bedded acute inpatient admissions ward for the treatment of ill mental health for working age males.

There are some exciting pathway developments happening within secure services, so we are looking for an individual who would like experience in working in a forensic setting and is ambitious in progressing in their nursing career. This is an great personal development opportunity for the suitable candidate.

Our focus is on developing nursing clinical practices in the forensic setting, and improving the patient flow through secure services by cross-working over wards, within that pathway.

If you have a passion and interest in caring for males with acute psychiatric illness and would like to enhance your nursing skills by working in a fast paced, dynamic environment, then we would really like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

To carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high quality evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided. This will include:o Undertaking a comprehensive, person-centred, nursing assessment and prepare care plans in consultation with the service users to provide the best nursing careo Implementation of care and rehabilitation programmeo Evaluation of effectiveness of care provided in partnership with userso Ability to implement research-based practiceo Following successful completion of preceptorship, ability to supervise junior and unqualified staffo Ability to administer medicine within relevant Trust and legislative guidance e.g. NMC Standards for Medicines Management 2010 and the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.o Ability to undertake risk assessment and develop risk management strategies for individual clients ICPA/SAP to people who present with mental health problems.o Demonstrate a working knowledge of the key elements of relevant mental Health Legislationo Ensure the ordering storage, administration and disposal of medication complies with relevant trust and legislative guidance e.g. NMC Standards for Medicines Management 2010,Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and MHA (1983)
