Healthcare Partners Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the central resource of professional engineering knowledge and skills within the hospital. Our services are used to support clinical services, research and development both within the Trust and also alongside external academic and clinical partners.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible Engineer to join a dynamic team of engineers providing a comprehensive repair, maintenance and service to a range of healthcare providers across the Surrey and Hampshire area.

At Band 5 we are looking for an experienced Service Engineer, ideally working in healthcare. Full manufacturer training will be provided to enable the individuals to work independently.

Ideally, a degree or HNC/D in electronics / electrical engineering or equivalent technical qualification and experience is required.

You will have/develop skills in the following areas: quality control measurements, fault finding, repairs and planned maintenance of a wide range of medical devices.

The NHS is moving to 7-day working so flexibility of working patterns is expected within HPL.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Maintain Medical Devices & Systems to the highest levels of performance, quality and integrity aligned to HPL requirements

Participate in Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme across the EME portfolio, delivering the programme of PPM services.

Responsibility for delivery of EME service provision.

Bring a broad technical understanding and specialism in Biomedical devices in line with NHS digitisation

Band 5 Engineer is tasked with supporting the various EME services employed within the organisation, and ensuring they remain available at all times.

Provide input to the development and maintenance of a long-term strategy and road map for Medical Devices, including replacement of older legacy devices with current and future technologies

The role calls for someone from an Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering background, and as such the post holder will require knowledge across the range of technologies and services that fall under the responsibility of this post.

The role will frequently require the post holder to engage with infrastructure and business projects and the adoption of new technologies in line with business requirements.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HNC / HND level education, equivalent professional qualifications or relevant experience of operating at this level
  • Registration as Clinical Technologist or Scientist


Desirable

  • Professional Registration
  • Additional specialist knowledge acquired through Manufacture training or equivalent experience


Experience

Essential

  • Able to develop a long-term strategic plan for the delivery and on-going support of the trusts Medical Devices. Recommending future products and services as these become relevant.
  • Experience of monitoring service providers, and able to negotiate and manage contracts to deliver best value for the trust
  • Experience of use of Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, excel, outlook etc
  • Experience of working in the patient environment
  • Management and development of proactive infrastructure monitoring and reporting solutions
  • Significant experience holding technical roles, preferably in NHS hospital environments
  • Experience with change control Process


Desirable

  • Experience of repair & maintenance of highly complex Medical Devices and systems.
  • Experience of implementation of policies and procedures
