Job summary
The Deputy Head of Nursing is a role whose function will be to support and deputise for the Head of Nursing for Medicine.
The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership and management to the division. The successful candidate will liaise closely with the clinical director and divisional manager.
You must be willing to embrace a broad range of new challenges, possess the knowledge, and drive to create and deliver the best pathways for our patients.
The post holder will be a credible clinical leader able to direct, lead and empower nursing staff to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery and that quality, governance and performance objectives are achieved. This will include implementing systems for professional revalidation and performance management of individuals that are accountable for quality and safe care.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a highly visible, accessible, and authoritative presence in the clinical areas of medicine.
The post holder will act as a professional role model to all nurses and will take corrective action to uphold the standards required of the Trust and the profession.
Provides direct line management and support to the senior nurse leaders and specialist nurses and other managers as appropriate. This includes ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place to set challenging but realistic objectives, monitor performance and agree and review performance and personal development plans.
