An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and professional Income and Contract Accountant, to join the Finance team. The successful candidate will be a key member of the senior finance team and will be fully supported in the role and to develop their career. Although primarily site-based, there may be an opportunity for hybrid working.

Main duties of the job

This role is pivotal in supporting the Trust to ensure that it receives all the income it is due, managing and reporting the Trust's income position. An understanding of the developments in the NHS funding and contracting regime is essential as the Trust looks to develop its recording and reporting accordingly. The role requires strong IT skills and the ability to work under pressure.

The post holder will also be a member of the team responsible for the National Costing Collection (patient level costing) and will ensure submission of timely, accurate and complete reports.

  • To provide regular activity and financial information on the Trusts performance to the Trust Board and other performance management groups
  • To ensure the provision of robust and timely activity and financial information to the commissioners in line with contractual obligations and agreed timetables
  • To lead the review of financial and activity information with clinicians, managers and other key personnel, and provide analysis on the results
  • To provide expert support for service area teams in the planning and development of their services with regard to service contract implications


Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional Accountancy Qualification e.g. CIPFA, or have a considerable number of years of experience in a financial management or financial analyst role

  • CCAB member

  • Senior Accountancy Experience
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and of managing change
  • Experience in contract reporting
  • Experience in costing exercises


Knowledge & Personal Skills

Essential

  • Expert at using and manipulating Excel spreadsheets and a working knowledge of Word
  • Knowledge and awareness of finance regime and regulations
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Experience in costing software
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
