H&S Advisor Construction Band 7 Pay scale �43 742-�50,056 ( dependant on knowledge, experience and qualifications)
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is embarking on an ambitious programme of transformation of its services, its estate and wider infrastructure. The Trust has been selected for investment under the government's New Hospital Programme and is planning on undertaking a phased redevelopment of the Derriford estate over the next decade. In parallel with work at the acute hospital, the Trust is also delivering a substantial programme of work in the wider Plymouth healthcare estate, to upgrade existing facilities and to build new facilities including health and wellbeing hubs in conjunction with our partner organisations.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
We are now looking for a permanent Health & Safety Advisor Construction to support the Estates Development Team in for this ongoing transformation programme in ensuring safe working environments for contractors, patients, visitors and staff, and compliance to relevant H&S Legislation during all construction phases.

Job responsibilities
To act as Trust lead for the provision of advice on all aspects of Health and Safety Construction.
Collaborate with project planners and construction managers and other teams from within Site Services to ensure that all potential risk management and safety issues are addressed , and ensuring compliance with legal obligations with regards to Health and Safety.
Support with preconstruction information and liaison with the Principal Designer as required.
Assist to ensure that the due diligence process is followed for contractors before they are appointed.
Perform construction site risk assessments , safety audits and safety meetings.
Review, advise and support implementation of on-site traffic management during construction , and consider any traffic management implications post construction.
Provide regular site safety inspection reports to the Safety Compliance and Assurance Manager to include action plans to address shortfalls.
Support CDM preparation, documentation and implementation for all construction projects, ensuring compliance to HSE/ Regulations.
Ensure all contractors RAMS are compliant with legislation and UHPNT policies and procedures.
Ensure all contractors conduct site inductions , briefs and appropriate training events.
Prepare Health and Safety Reports and present them to the Health and Safety Committee and other committees and groups as required.
This is an opportunity to be part of a significant and rewarding change programme that goes beyond pure construction to shape the future delivery of clinical services.
These are permanent appointments and interviews for the role will be held on Friday 21st June 2023, so please ensure that you are able to attend on this date.
