We a looking to fill 2 vacancies for a permanent Band 5 RMN's to work within CAMHS. The vacant posts are based in Bridgend and Taff Ely . This is an opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and experience of working with children, and young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties and support their families within community service in the Cwm Taf Locality.

The CAMHS Service has a number of bases across the CTM Locality, the newly refurbished Carnegie Clinic in the Rhondda, Child and Family Centre Tonteg , Keir Hardie Health Park in Merthyr and Bridgend clinics. The post holder's clinical work will be as part of a robust and supportive multi-disciplinary community team working across the locality.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Mental Health Nurse to develop their therapeutic skills.You will manage a caseload of young people with mental health difficulties and you will provide therapeutic packages of intervention to support them and their families in alignment of the All wales Mental Health Measure 2010.

This post will form part of a small multidisciplinary team based in one of the 2 areas, Bridgend or Taff Ely. Each team consists of Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychology, Family Therapy, CAMHS specialist nurses and dedicated Administration support for the team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the mental health assessments/ interventions of children and young people referred to our service the ability to make balanced decisions and use positive approaches, whilst managing potentially high pressure situations is an essential part of this role. The post involves interagency liaison with all local authority, and third sector services. Child and Family Social Services, education and other agencies, as needed.

This post will be based in either Bridgend, Rhondda or Taff Ely.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • RN (Mental Health) current NMC registration.


Desirable

  • Training apropriate to post e.g Post Registration Qualification in child and Adolescent Mental Health. Child protection, child development, working with families.


Experience

Essential

  • Working within a team, experience in assessment and clinical interventions.


Desirable

  • Experience of working with children and/or young people with mental health problems. Experience of facilitating group work. community work or 1-1 work with patients.


Skills

Essential

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with children, young people and adults. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to work well as part of a team and carry out specific tasks as allocated. Ability to work in a challenging and changeable environment.


Desirable

  • Well developed reasoning ability. ability to think creatively and to adopt a positive approach to problem solving.


Circumstances eg Mobility/Availability special attendance requirements.

Essential

  • Ability to travel around the designated area of the service and escort clients in the community as required. Car owner/driver in possession of full current driving licence.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Good understanding of Child and Adolescent Mental Health issues. Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to local systems, processes and procedures. Knowledge of and adherence to organizational procedures.
