Job summary

Due to the promotion of the current postholder, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team within the Surgical Services Group, covering ENT, Max Fax (including Head & Neck), Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry. This role is ideal for anyone who is looking to broaden their operational experience as a Manager within the NHS and acute services.

The post holder will need to have NHS operational management experience, be a highly visible and credible manager and have strong leadership qualities. A focus on ensuring the development and provision of a comprehensive, high quality, patient centered services. The candidate will need to have excellent interpersonal skills allowing them to work closely with Administrative, Senior Management and Clinical Teams etc.

They must be able to raise the profile of the group across the organisation and critically, they must be passionate about delivering a world class service to patients.

Main duties of the job

The Operational and Performance Manager is an essential part of the Group Management Team, supporting the Clinical Service Leads, Group/Associate Group Manager's, Matrons and the Surgical Group Triumvirate in the development and provision of a comprehensive, high quality, patient-centered care service.

You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operational management of the services and the key performance metrics associated with this. An operational background and working knowledge of RTT and cancer is essential, you will be a key player in supporting the organisation to deliver excellent, high-quality services for our patients.

You will need to be resilient, confident & possess skills that will enable you to understand the service: you will be creative in your approach to problem solving and have an ability to think differently.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Support to the Group Manager & Associate Group Manager ensuring clear communication and robust implementation of policy, business objectives and agreed targets
  • Provide support to the Group Director of Operations, Group Director of Nursing & AHPs and Clinical Director to ensure sound operational management of services and ensuring that services are continuously improved
  • Support the group in the delivery of operational performance within the Surgical Services Group specialties to achieve delivery of national and local targets, the development and delivery of improvement plans.
  • In liaison with the Group Manager, Associate Group Manager and the Group Finance Manager agree and deliver against financial and activity profiles for relevant specialties, identify risks and implement and review risk reduction strategies
  • Provide support in the implementation and review robust systems and processes so that specialty budgets are effectively managed and financial balance is achieved, within Trust budgetary rules, Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions
  • Implement HR and governance strategies and policies within relevant services in order to achieve compliancy with Trust policies and procedures, best practice, relevant legislation and regulatory provisions.
