Job summary

Responsible for the day to day operation of the drivers team, providing a transport service to the Trust between two sites, NHS Communities, GPs and Clinical Commissioning Group (CCGs) administered sites. This includes running a mini-bus service between the Hillingdon and Mount Vernon sites and transporting goods, stock, medical records, scans & x-rays, post, medical equipment, blood & blood products, surgical instruments, Isotopes, patient transfers primarily around the local area, sometimes to further locations. The service also includes provision of waste collection service from NHS Communities, GPs and CCGs sites.

The role also includes planning jobs for Drivers, Rota management, eRostering, direct communication with staff, monitoring and ensuring staff are compliant in their statutory compliance (ADR and isotopes) and mandatory training, absence and leave management.

The role also includes direct liaison with Vehicles Lease or Hire companies for vehicles management, compliance checks, liaison on insurance claims, DVLA registrations, monitoring and validating invoices for spend and budget monitoring.

The post holder is accountable to Director of Operational Estates & Facilities and responsible to Head of Sustainability for duties and reporting aspects and the role involves following key areas:

    The post holder will be part of the Sustainability Team, with main role and responsibilities for Internal Transport. The role provides opportunities and exposure to wider sustainability and net-zero a national commitment such as in the areas of reducing carbon emissions related to Transport and Travel, supporting Waste Management services, Energy and carbon savings.

    The Internal Transport team is very diverse with a team of 8x Drivers who are very well trained in their operations. The post provides an opportunity to develop initiatives and operations to meet the future outlook of Electric Vehicles Fleet, and making NHS a Greenest organisations.

    Person Specification

    Transport Management experience

    Essential

    • NHS Transport fleet or similar healthcare, 5 years experience
    • Operations training ADR and Isotopes 3 years experience
    • A valid Driving licence, Category B or higher
    • Experience in fleet insurance (accidents & claim), recovery and replacement for breakdowns


    Desirable

    • Professional degree or Post graduate qualification in Transport Management
    • EV fleet management experience
    • Experience in clinical waste collections and Duty of Care
