Job summary

Interim Specialist Nurse for Children Looked After Band 7, part-time 30 hours per week 6 months fixed term/secondment

To work as part of the Children Looked After (CLA) health team in Croydon Health Service (CHS), and as part of a wider multi-agency partnership in ensuring that comprehensive and robust arrangements are in place and adhered to in the provision of services delivered by CHS to the children and young people looked after by Croydon Council.

Main duties of the job

To fulfil the role of Specialist Nurse for CLA on behalf of Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. The post holder will work in accordance with the DOH 2015 guidance \Promoting the health and wellbeing of looked after children and in line with the Intercollegiate Framework 2015 competence skills and knowledge framework.The post holder will work with Named and Designated professionals and the Lead Nurse to maintain a co-ordinated approach to the improvement of outcomes for Croydon CLA. The post holder will develop and deliver personalised packages of health care for children and young people for whom Croydon Council is the corporate parent.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • GN/ RN, RSCN
  • Degree in Specialist Community Practitioner Qualification (Health Visiting or School Nursing) or equivalent


Desirable

  • Community Specialist Practice Teacher qualification
  • Master's Degree or working towards


KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

Essential

  • Knowledge of health issues relating to Children Looked After
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the complex issues involved when working across organisations and disciplines
  • Understanding of NMC Code of Conduct and scope of professional practice


Desirable

  • Previous experience


EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Post community / specialist qualification
  • Experience of working with vulnerable families and implementing
  • Experience of working in highly emotional /distressing circumstances


Desirable

  • Experience of implementing and facilitating education and training programmes.
  • Experience of developing strategies, clinical guidelines and policies
  • Experience of participating in research/audits
