We run three busy hospital sites at Peterborough, Huntingdon and Stamford and provide outpatient services in two community hospitals in Ely and Doddington. Our 6,000 staff serve a growing population of 750,000 across North Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

SCBU is part of North West Anglia Foundation Trust and part of the East of England Neonatal Network. We are designated a Special Care Unit with a 10 cot capacity (IC stabilization cot, 2 HD cots and 8 Special Care Cots).

Main duties of the job

We are looking for passionate Band 5 nurses who are either Registered adult nurses or Registered children's nurses to work on SCBU.

We have a good in house training program and we are dedicated to continually developing the knowledge and skills of our nurses. We are looking for Band 5 nurses with or without Neonatal experience and we can provide support for both with a Neonatal induction Programme.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Adult or Child Branch)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and its application.


Desirable

  • ENB 997/ 998 or Mentorship module or equivalent
  • Qualified in Speciality (neonates), ENB 405 or equivalent
  • Ability to mentor/coach students
  • Evidence of Neonatal Advanced Resuscitation training (NLS)


Experience

Essential

  • Nursing skills and knowledge which can be transferred to provide a high standard of care in SCBU clinical area.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of neonatal nursing
  • Experience of Family Centred Care in SCBU or NICU


Desirable

  • Experience of shift management


Knowledge

Essential

  • Acquired knowledge of NMC Code Of conduct
  • Acquired knowledge of Quality issues and Clinical Governance
  • Acquired knowledge and understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding agenda
  • Acquired knowledge of importance of communication skills within Multidisciplinary team and with families


Desirable

  • Knowledge of professional issues within Trust and NHS
