Job summary
We are looking to recruit a skilled and motivated Physiotherapist to join our service as full time 37.5hrs per week. You must be trained at degree level and registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. This post is within the South Tyneside Community Learning Disability Service, with Physiotherapy colleagues and in conjunction with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Band 5 and band 6 physiotherapists are welcome to apply and dependent on experience this role could be a progressive role from band 5 to band 6 following completion of specific competencies.
You will work within the multi-disciplinary team and provide physiotherapy to adults with a learning disability. You will also work with all stakeholders, to contribute to learning and development of staff working with adults with Learning Disabilities, ensuring effective service delivery and the best possible outcomes for our service users
You must have broad knowledge and appropriate skills which will ensure that physiotherapy interventions are delivered in the way which meets the needs of the service user.
Regular supervision and support will be provided, as will the opportunity to self-develop through use of an annual appraisal and regular supervision.
You will be flexible where required to meet the service need or service user need
You will be a car driver and have access to a vehicle to meet the requirements of this post

Plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate the physiotherapy service provided for adult clients with a learning disability who have a range of complex needs. The service to be delivered into a variety of settings which include day services establishments, residential settings and the persons own home; assessing, diagnosing, prioritising, treating and discharging patients autonomously.
To work as a member of the Community Learning Disabilities Team (CLDT) , contributing to multi-disciplinary working as necessary, to address the needs of adult clients referred to the team and manage a delegated caseload
To work collaboratively with other specialist services within Learning Disabilities to meet the Physiotherapy needs of adult clients.
Be regularly involved in supporting and consulting on complex transitions e.g. to new home environments; leaving school; admission and discharge from inpatient services
To participate in Service Developments, Audit and R&D activities as directed by the Appropriate Lead.
To actively participate in a programme of supervision, competency development and CPD activities.

Who have a range of complex needs in a variety of settings including day services, residential settings and the persons own home; assessing, diagnosing, prioritising, treating and discharging patients autonomously (with support and advice from Physiotherapy Clinical Lead).
- To work as a member of the Community Learning Disabilities Team, contributing to multi-disciplinary working as necessary, to address the needs of clients referred to the team and manage a delegated caseload
- To work collaboratively with other specialist services within Learning Disabilities to meet the physiotherapy needs of clients.
- Be involved in supporting and consulting on complex transitions e.g. to new home environments; leaving school; admission and discharge from inpatient services
- To actively participate in a programme of supervision, competency development and CPD activities under the guidance of senior clinicians. To work within guidance and framework for Safeguarding Adults / Child Protection Policies.
- To provide verbal / written reports in respect of individual clients.
- Work within clinical governance framework
