We are looking for an enthusiastic ST4+ in the Paediatric Department based at Whipps Cross Hospital. This is a 12-month fixed term contract starting from August, as part of the medical team the post holder will also be required to attend children in the paediatric A&E department, paediatric assessment unit, labour ward and postnatal wards as appropriate. Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • MB ChB MRPCH part 1 (or equivalent)
  • APLS / NLS
  • Sound general paediatric knowledge
  • Competence in assessment and management of ill children in the acute setting


Desirable

  • MRCPCH part 2 theory and clinical examinations
  • Knowledge of organisation of NHS


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years experience working at SHO Level (or equivalent) including six months experience of working as SHO in Level 2 Neonatal unit
  • Appreciation of role of audit in clinical practice


Desirable

  • Work experience in Level 3 Neonatal Unit at SHO Level
  • Interest and participation in clinical audit and / or quality improvement
  • Teaching Experience


Skills

Essential

  • Good communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills (ability to establish good working relationships with patients, carers, and colleagues
  • Coo-operative team member and able to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrate positive and approach to work, enthusiasm, and common sense
