This vacancy is a development opportunity in the Financial Accounting team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust based at Shrewsbury Business Park.

The role requires the individual to work alongside the system's administrator within the Finance department, alongside undertaking a level 7 Accounting and Tax qualification via an Apprenticeship programme. Over the course of the apprenticeship, the individual will develop the skills to support the system's administrator responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the Trust wide (600 user) Oracle integrated finance and purchasing system, taking responsibility for the local configuration of the system and providing technical support, advice and training for users of the system to ensure its operational effectiveness. Upon successful completion of the qualification there may be an opportunity to apply for a permanent position.

Applicants must be an AAT member or have a relevant degree (NVQ level 5) and ECDL (Advanced Level) or equivalent experience. It is essential that the applicant has 3 years minimum experience as a user of a Finance & Procurement system. The applicant must be able to comply with the Apprenticeship funding criteria contained in the Person Specification for the job.

The Education Provider for the Apprenticeship is HTFT Partnership.

Main duties of the job

-creating user permissions for new employees and including in the system's purchasing hierarchy in line with Trust authorised signatories and deleting former employees from the system on a monthly basis

-ensuring the on-going maintenance of the chart of accounts (cost centres and analysis codes) that meets the Finance Departments' and Budget Holders' reporting requirements.

-ensuring the payroll feed is consolidated into the financial system in line with the agreed timetable by clearing all errors.

-ensuring Goods Received accruals are appropriately accrued into the Trust's monthly operating position by ensuring that departments adhere to system operating procedures

-checking and coordinating data fed into the general ledger from the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ledgers.

The post holder will also support the Senior Financial Accountant by performing monthly control account reconciliations, recharges and completing the Trust's VAT return on a timely basis that accurately reflects the VAT framework applicable to the NHS.

Qualifications

Essential

  • AAT Member or relevant Degree (NVQ level 5)
  • Level 2 Maths and English Language qualification. (GCSE Grade A*-C/9-4 or equivalent.)
  • ECDL (Advanced Level) or equivalent experience
