Applications are invited for the post of Trust Doctor in Eldercare at Royal Cornwall Hospital. A good level of postgraduate NHS work experience would be an advantage.

Applicants will be required to have experience of working within a medicine related specialty for a minimum period of 12 months. You will require current ALS (or equivalent) and will also be GMC registered with a licence to practice.

The experience will be equivalent to a training post. You will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the substantive posts within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Key Accountabilities
  • Assessment and management of in-patients on Care of the Elderly wards.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary ward meetings.
  • Attend out-patients and assist in-patient management.
  • Fulfill the duties of the weekly timetable including out of hours responsibilities.
  • Participate in Clinical Audit.
  • Participate in departmental Education and Training sessions.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification. Eligible to work at ST level. A good level of postgraduate NHS work experience. ALS or equivalent. Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice.
  • GMC Registered with a Licence to Practice


Desirable

  • Experience in speciality relevant to application. Additional qualifications e.g. BSc, MSc, PhD or equivalent.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Has achieved appropriate level of core competencies. Has a working knowledge of NHS.


Communication

Essential

  • Speak fluent English to at least I.E.L.T.S level 7.5.


Probity

Essential

  • Displays honesty, integrity, aware of ethical dilemmas, respects confidentiality.


Additional Circumstances

  • A Disclosure and Barring Service check satisfactory to the organisation. Occupational Health Clearance Receipt of two satisfactory references. The post-holder must have access to their own transport and the ability to travel within and outside of the county, sometimes at short notice, when require. To live no more than 30 minutes travel from hospital if an on call rota is category A.
