It is an exciting time to join the Learning and Career Development team at MTW NHS Trust. We are investing in building a team focussed on ensuring staff and their managers are supported on the journey from candidate to competent colleague and beyond.

The role will include
  • Supporting the implementation of all aspects of the Learning and Career Development strategy. This will include the development, implementation and procurement of an annual training plan
  • Supporting the design and delivery of a range of learning and career development interventions across the organisation, helping to improve organisational culture in line with our PRIDE values and MTW Leadership Behaviours and promoting Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust as the employer of choice
  • The post holder will support the Learning and Career Development Manager and wider team to commission and deliver individual, team and organisational development programmes and work streams including talent management, succession planning and associated engagement activities

About us

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust's core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.

We employ over 6,500 full and part-time staff in a huge range of clinical and non-clinical roles across both of our hospital sites.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oMinimum Level 4 qualification in Education and Training, HR or Business
  • oEvidence of continuous personal development, e.g. attending courses


Desirable

  • oEducated to degree level
  • oMembership of professional body relating to Training and Development, e.g. Institute of Training and Occupational Learning (ITOL
  • oCoaching and Mentoring qualification


Experience

Essential

  • oExperience in a HR/L& D/OD function
  • oSupporting the design, delivery and evaluation of training programmes and other learning and development interventions in a large multi-disciplinary organisation.
  • oSupporting the delivery of staff engagement events and activities including focus groups
  • oDemonstrable success in working collaboratively across professions, services and organisational boundaries.
  • oAn awareness and understanding of the NHS, its structure and some of its priorities
  • oExperience of identifying learning and development needs, finding solutions, designing and delivering L& D activities including e-learning
  • oMonitoring, reviewing and evaluating the outcomes and impact of training interventions
  • oEngaging service users in enhancing the quality of learning provision
  • oParticipation in operational planning and the construction of project management plans.
  • oExperience of managing external training providers/ suppliers
  • oInvolvement in administering an online learning system.


Desirable

  • oProject management
  • o Trained and experienced in facilitating and giving feedback to individuals and teams
  • oUsing a range of team and individual diagnostic/feedback tools e.g. 360 degree feedback and other psychometric tools such as MBTI, Insights and Belbin
