Working in the NIHR / Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Birmingham Childrens Hospital you will assist in the screening and recruitment of participants, delivery of clinical interventions and care required for the study (e.g. IV drug infusions, venipuncture, cannulation), observing and responding to side effects, as well as liaising with Research & Development, clinical teams and study sponsors to ensure the accurate collection and submission of research data, in line with the study protocols and research regulations.

Main duties of the job

Our multidisciplinary team work together to deliver a variety of research studies this might include the delivery of a clinical trial of a potential new medicine/treatment or finding out more about how a childhood disease progresses over time. Children and young people who are taking part in research visit the facility for outpatient, day case or inpatient appointments. The unit is equipped to offer overnights and weekends, ensuring we can offer a 24/7 service in line with the protocol requirement.

You will be qualified as a childrens nurse, have excellent communication skills, good analytical and problem-solving skills and have an interest in pursuing a career in clinical research.

Previous research experience is not essential as a comprehensive induction and training/development programme, covering the role will be available.
