Job summary

Do want to expand your nutrition support skills and gain cardiothoracic critical care experience?

We have a fixed term vacancy for a Specialist Critical Care Dietitian to cover maternity leave starting June 2023.

You will be part of the dietetic critical care team, supporting patients who have undergone complex cardiac and thoracic surgery including heart and lung transplants. You will also be supporting patients on ECMO as Royal Papworth is one of 6 ECMO centres in the country.

You will be joining a supportive team with opportunities for personal development, research, audit and service development. You will form part of the well-respected MDT as a clinical expert and provide line management and leadership to other members of the Dietetic department.

Main duties of the job

You will be an experienced Dietitian with a strong knowledge of artificial nutrition support, ideally based in an acute or critical care setting. You will be passionate about individualised patient care and advancing the field of Dietetics.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of nutrition support including short term and long enteral feeding
  • Experience of adapting communication to meet patient needs
  • Experience of co-ordinating and delivering group education sessions
  • Experience of working face to face with patients and public
  • Experience of training students
  • Experience of producing Dietetic resources such as a diet sheets / posters / guidelines
  • Experience of conducting audit / research as the lead


Desirable

  • Experience of working with patients with complex conditions
  • Previous experience of presenting at a national or international level
  • Leadership and line management experience
  • Experience of conducting research


Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Current Registration with HCPC
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Evidence of working at MSc level / undertaking relevant short courses related to advancing clinical expertise as a post graduate
  • Member of BDA or other personal indemnity insurance provider


Desirable

  • Motivational interviewing / behaviour change skills
  • Member of BDA specialist group related to clinical area
