Job summary

This post will be responsible for ensuring that the Lead Employer vaccination workforce is compliant in all areas of training and competency to support across the Sussex system for Covid-19 vaccination delivery.

The role will support the Project Lead & Business Development Manager in the development, implementation and maintenance of an NHS Reservist model with a particular focus on training requirements and compliance.

As part of the Regional Lead Employer body, you will play a crucial role in recruiting, onboarding, training, and retaining substantive, bank and volunteer staff to support the vaccination and reservist programme.

The post holder will be a key clinical leader ensuring the

highest standards of nursing practice and clinical care is

delivered to patients.

Responsible for the development and implementation of agreed areas of quality / service development and improvement relating to the programmes in accordance with national recommendations and standards.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the Regional Lead Employer Team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, you will be part of a unique workstream which will develop a pool of trained vaccinators to be deployed within community pharmacy and primary care hubs across the region. You will also play a pivotal role in launching a brand new NHS reservist model to support the entire system with a multi skilled workforce.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for assurance that the workforce is trained and competent to deliver the vaccines in place at system level
  • Responsible for ascertaining training and competencies required for a variety of roles within the reservist programme
  • Responsible for equipping the widest range of workforce with the skills to ensure sustainability of the workforce
  • Post holder is responsible for ensuring that there is sufficient training capacity to support onboarding, training, and competency assessment of the Lead Employer workforce across all sources of workforce supply
  • Provide assurance that there are mechanisms in place for ensuring the workforce is alert to changes to immunisation policies and vaccines being delivered, including trained in new vaccinations
  • Ensure there are opportunities for continuous professional development (CPD) and clear career pathways in place for the programme workforce
  • Work closely with Project Lead to ensure optimisation of programme delivery
  • Take responsibility for continually developing and improving the service, working with the Project Lead; submit new ideas/innovations aimed at improvement.
  • Exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy and critical judgement.
  • Ensure the services run efficiently and effectively at all times identifying and managing risks that occur taking action to mitigate those risks
  • To provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence within agreed settings, working alongside staff and being available key partners offering assistance, specialist advice and support where required.
  • Ensure that there are effective communication systems in place to allow staff to keep abreast of developments within the organisation.
  • Act as an expert resource for queries and advice around the workstream.
  • Deploy high level communication skills to ensure that all stakeholders are aware of objectives, developments and progress and directing the assigned staff where necessary.
  • Able to manage and influence stakeholders both internally and externally at all levels including senior level. Able to manage difficult and sensitive situations with staff and stakeholders as and when required.
  • Represent the Trust at external meetings as and when required.
  • Fully contribute to the development, implementation or amendment to policies, processes and working practices as and when required.
  • Analyse and evaluate key quality data including quantitative and qualitative data from internal and external sources to identify and monitor trends within the service and develop action plans and recommendations to ensure an effective and efficient service.
  • Exercise autonomy, high level of decision making, judgement with the ability to work independently guided by broad health and social care strategies along with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Promote and monitor safe and effective practice leading to high quality care.
  • Enhance patient experience by ensuring that patient needs are place at the centre of care delivery.

  • Ensure high levels of patient satisfaction by seeking and acting upon feedback for audits, learning from complaints, and role modelling kindness and compassion in dealings with patients, their supporters and staff
  • To produce and create regular reports / collate data as and when required.
  • Ensure that own area has governance systems and processes are in place in line with the Trust governance framework.
  • To manage the effective use of all resources.


Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered practitioner with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration
  • Educated to diploma/degree level or equivalent demonstratable experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development to post graduate level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development to Masters level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience


Desirable

  • PRINCE 2 project management qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Managerial qualification


Experience

Essential

  • A broad range of in-depth manageria clinical experience at a senior level in the NHS or similar large complex organisation
  • Experience of working across departmental and organisational boundaries to deliver and improve services
  • Experience of working in a range of clinical settings. Current experience of providing quality requirements for the assessment of clinical skills
  • Experience of system administration activities (Health Roster and MyLearn)
  • Regular requirement to create and develop complex data and reports
  • Demonstrable experience of multi-agency working


Desirable

  • Previous experience working within the Covid-19 vaccination delivery programme
