We have an exciting opportunity for a 12 month secondment/fixed term Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) within Safari Day Care.

Suitable candidates will be enthusiastic, autonomous team players who will work alongside the medical and ANP team and in partnership with the Ward Sister, Practice Educator, Safari nursing team and Matron to enhance the patient experience.

We are welcoming applications for a fully qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner with demonstrable clinical experience to be a key player in developing practice and setting standards for Advanced Nurse Practitioners in this specialist area of practice.

Main duties of the job

As a highly skilled individual joining the team, we expect you to be driven by the highest standards of care for children and their families to ensure all care is safe, of high quality and effective. Children and young people and families will see you as an expert in your field, having advanced communication skills, expert clinical skills, having the ability to educate and support, as well demonstrating the 4 pillars of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

The secondment provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced ANP to explore new areas of work and develop further skills in clinical assessment, decision making, consenting, nurse prescribing and nurse led care. Additional duties include:
  • Providing effective clinical leadership, expertise and advice to support the delivery of high-quality nursing care
  • Providing advanced clinical care through health assessment, initiation of treatment, formulation and monitoring of care programmes to children and young people with cancer within an agreed scope of practice
  • To learn about and with supervision/consultation with the Safari Specialty Lead or Safari or Haem ANP make changes to treatment plans
  • Facilitating the development of evidence based clinical practice through improvement, research and audit
  • To be an expert clinical resource for other healthcare practitioners which includes transferring own clinical experience and knowledge to the haematology/ oncology team

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

  • NMC Registered Nurse (Child)
  • Relevant Honours degree
  • Master's degree in advanced nursing practice or National diploma in ANP
  • Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
  • IRMER Training for non medical prescribers
  • Evidence of ongoing, dynamic, CPD, with demonstrable clinical competencies, relevant to area of clinical practice

  • Attendance on a clinical leadership programme

  • Relevant experience in a relevant children's healthcare environment
  • Thorough knowledge relevant to the specialty / department / field of practice
