Job summary
Your journey to a successful NHS finance career starts here.
Hello, we are Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are an extraordinary place to undertake an award- winning apprenticeship programme. We have helped many local people gain invaluable experience of working in the NHS today, along with achieving a nationally recognised qualification.
What is the role?
Are you looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has become available for you to develop a career in NHS finance and study for the AAT qualification at Level 3. There is the potential to extend for a further 18 months to complete the Level 4 (Higher) apprenticeship, pending successful completion of both Level 3 (Advanced) and meeting the workbase expectations. During the first 18 months, you will be rotating around the Finance department, working with a range of teams across all finance functions including financial accounts, management accounts, costing and contracting.
How to apply
Read our Job Description and Person Specification for further information about the role and the skills we are looking for. We have an online assessment day planned for early July, with interviews later on in that month.
Main duties of the job
Who are we looking for?
The post will be demanding so we are looking for candidates who are ready for the challenge and share our values of care, honesty, and accountability. We are looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate good communication skills and a strong interest in accountancy and finance.
If you've been thinking about University and it's not for you, following the Apprenticeship pathway with NHS Finance could take you to fully-qualified status in just a few years
Eligibility and entry requirements
Applicants need to hold a minimum of 3 GCSE grades A*to C (9 to 4) including Maths and English (or equivalent level 2).
Although you do not require A Levels/BTECs, what is important is that you are numerate and literate and have the study approach that A levels demand. You must be organised and self disciplined around your studies. As this is an apprenticeship, we cannot accept candidates who are already studying towards or have completed AAT Level 3 or Higher .
Future Prospects
During your initial 18 month apprenticeship, you will undertake a comprehensive learning programme that will include day-release for study. You will gain valuable, transferable skills and experiences that will enable you to apply for further jobs/posts in finance, both in the NHS and other sectors.
Attached is a profile of one of our previous apprentices and their career path since.
