The four acute Trusts in Humber and North Yorkshire have come together to form the Collaboration of Acute Providers (CAP), to work together on transformational change programmes at scale.

The Collaboration of Acute Providers is hosted by York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is an integral part of the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care System. As a system we are embarking on major transformational change across our urgent care, elective care and diagnostic services. As part of a dynamic Programme Team, we are looking for enthusiastic and experienced people to drive our change programme and deliver on our ambitions for our patients.

As a Diagnostic Project Manager you will work closely with the clinical and operational team members across the Trust, leading on pan-Trust projects to assist with driving and facilitating change across clinical pathways to ensure the best and timely care for our patients. The project roles will support our clinical networks, bringing our clinical teams together and identify opportunities to develop best practice pathways.

Main duties of the job

The Humber and North Yorkshire Collaboration of Acute Providers (CAP) delivers programmes of work at scale to support improved patient care. Working across the acute trusts within the provider collaborative, the post holder will be responsible for the overall management/leadership and delivery of specified high impact projects within the Diagnostic work programme.

The post holder will lead the development of the project plan, monitoring and delivery of actions, risks and issues relates. Working closely with clinical leads through clinical networks and with operational managers across the acute trusts in Humber and North Yorkshire, the local Integrated Care System (ICS) and regional colleagues, this post will work will support our ambitions on productivity, improving pathways for patients and developing and implementing new ways of working across clinical and operational teams.

The post holder will co-ordinate the work of associated workstreams within the project, monitoring the progress of their work against relevant work stream Project Plans and link into completion of the Programme.

Thenew salary rates for this year(2023/24)willtake effect from 1 April 2023. Eligible staff can expect to receive the additional 2022/23 payment and the new 2023/24 pay rates (including back pay to 1 April) as part of their pay in June.

Person Specification



  • Project Management knowledge, either acquired through a postgraduate diploma or via experience of managing and completing complex projects
  • Experience of managing and delivering change effectively on complex projects


  • Experience of working in a NHS acute hospital



  • Effective interpersonal, written and presentational communication skills Ability to communicate effectively and engage in detailed discussion with all levels of staff
  • Ability to negotiate, persuade and influence on complex and sensitive projects



  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex statistics and information
