Job summary

The Simulation Team are recruiting a Band 6 Simulation Facilitator to join our team leading, managing and providing expert advice and guidance to both the medical simulation training programmes and community focused non-medical simulation

A key part of the role is to support, develop and deliver new and innovative ways to provide simulation using future technologies to drive adaption and change.

You will support the ISU to develop their own multi-professional training simulations with the emphasis on in-situ deliveryand be responsible for planning, creating and updating simulation scenarios in line with requirement from external sources (e.g. HEE, Universities) and intra-organisational teams.

Main duties of the job

  • Simulation programme delivery
  • Simulation programme development
  • Ensuring Simulation ideals match organisational objectives
  • Creating new links to services who have not considered simulation as a teaching methodology
  • Planning and organising simulation modalities across ISUs
  • Assist lead to manage budget and resources
  • Working alongside digital educational teams to create future VR/XR simulation resources
  • Assist wider organisation in areas such as recruitment/retention, building brighter future objectives and school access to care programmes for work experience
  • Be lead for community simulations within ICO
  • Lead alongside medical colleagues on both undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching programmes in terms of simulation. (will not require knowledge of actual medical training itself)

Job responsibilities

  • Improving Lives - To work closely with incident reporting teams to be reflexive to patient safety issues and react to those accordingly
  • Compassion (managing relationships) - to work closely with both ISU teams and teams outside the organisation to ensure simulation training is a positive informative learning experience for learners, and providers. Creation of simulation scenarios must always take account of patient perspectives and be diverse and inclusive of minority group issues
  • The post holder will be expected to communicate with, simulation facilitators, Simulation tutors, centre technician and VR technician, Clinical & Education simulation Lead, Education wider teams. Medical University teams including administration staff, sub dean/deans of medical schools, university clinical skills tutors and technicians. Community Teams and Individual ISU Practice Educators. Active participant in regional simulation network

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • oRegistered Healthcare Progresional with significant healthcare experience
  • oRecent and significant clinical knowledge and experience within an acute or community environment, underpinned by theory and CPD
  • oTeaching Qualifications e.g., Cert.Ed., CIPD Diploma, PTLS, CTLS, City & Guilds 7307, 7300 or equivalent. (Please note short courses such RCUK GI courses will not be deemed sufficient on their own without other training experience
  • oUp to date knowledge of/and/or acute care, Women's and child health, planned care, or community focused care
  • oUnderstanding of undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes
  • oUp to date experience of clinical/technical practice and competences oExperience of working with multi-professional teams


Desirable

  • oMedical Simulation Train the Trainer course completion
  • oLeadership and Management qualification
  • oPostgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education
  • oUnderstanding of regional and national drivers for simulation training
  • oManagement experience
  • oKnowledge of PILS/ALS and core clinical skills
