Job summary

An exciting and rewarding opportunity for an enthusiastic service Manager to oversee the smooth overall management of the Personality Disorder Services.

The Service Lead Role will manage, co-ordinate and be accountable for the work of the multi-disciplinary Personality Services.

The team is comprised of Heath and Social care staff; and the Service Lead will be responsible for staff employed by both Health and Social Services Departments.

The post holder will also ensure that there is full involvement and networking with users, carers, and local community groups, including those representing Black and Minority organisations.

In addition, to ensure that the team delivers on targets identified.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an Operational Service Manager for the Personality Disorder Service. This is a case holding team, providing support care and treatment to individuals with complex Personality Disorder, associated difficulties and trauma.

The Operational Service Manager will head up the ongoing development of the service and ensure it fulfils all statutory service requirements and targets identified by the Trust.

The successful candidate will:
  • be experienced clinically and operationally in mental health complex specialist care.
  • be a 'front of house' visible leader, with demonstrable, recent experience in leading and team building and service development.
  • have a strong capacity to engage staff and lead on change management processes from the outset.
  • be able to interface with stakeholders (Acute Trusts, GP's, Medical and Nursing Directorate, voluntary sector, Service User and Carer's Groups)
  • Be accountable for budgets for both health and social services, including budgets relating to the purchase of care packages under Social Services responsibilities.

Job responsibilities

The postholder will:
  • Manage, co-ordinate and be accountable for the work of a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team.
  • Be responsible for staff employed by both Health and Social Services Departments.
  • Be accountable for budgets for both health and social services, including budgets relating to the purchase of care packages under Social Services responsibilities for delivering care in the community.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the systems provide an efficient and integrated service. This will require a thorough understanding of policies and procedures in both the Trust and the local Social Services Department.
  • Ensure that there is full involvement and networking with users, carers, and local community groups, including those representing Black and Minority organisations.
  • Ensure that the team meets locally and nationally defined standards relating to the provision of community mental health services, such as those standards outlined in the National Service Framework for Mental Health.
  • Contribute to the development of policy and services relevant to Community Mental Health Teams.
