We have an opportunity for aRegistered Nurses to join us in the Acute Medical Division on Cavell, a 28 bedded short stay ward providing care for patients with a variety of acute medical conditions. Most of our patients are admitted from Accident and Emergency and the Acute Medical Unit.

This is a chance to develop your skills as part of a highly capable team where you're guaranteed opportunities to learn how to care for patients requiring a variety of nursing interventions. You will be supported by our practice educators and senior nurses to help you develop your skills and knowledge.

You will learn about:o Communication and awareness competencies - including dementia nursing, safeguarding, electronic clinical record keeping, deprivation of liberty and mental capacity.o Clinical competencies - including aseptic technique, venepuncture and cannulation, catheterization, syringe drivers, medicines management, IV drug administration, PEG feeds, NG tube insertion, blood transfusion, EWS, pressure ulcer management and prevention

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for undertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diversegroup of patients. Is expected to deliver care without direct supervision. Is accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care. Is expected to teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce. Is accountable for care or any omissions of care that he/she delegates to others Is expected to act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.
