This is a fixed term/secondment vacancy until 31/03/24 due to funding

If you are an internal applicant this post will only be offered on a secondment basis and you will need to have gained your line managers approval for the secondment prior to going to interview.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team of nurses based on the Chemotherapy day unit at Glangwili General Hospital, for a 9 month period.

The team cares for outpatients, requiring Systemic Anti Cancer Treatment, in collaboration with specialist colleagues based in Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea Bay UHB.

Full Time post available although there is some scope for part time work.

Main duties of the job

The role requires you to: -

To line manage and lead the Chemotherapy Day Unit team.

To engage with and drive quality improvement.

Continuously monitor and strive to improve patient experience.

Oversee and support the professional development of the Team.

Work towards achieving and maintaining key performance indicators and quality standards.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Registered nurse
  • Be prepared to study at Msc level and work towards full Msc.
  • Evidence of Post graduate Specialist modules in Oncology/Palliative Care
  • Teaching and Assessment ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Non-medical prescribing or prepared to work towards qualification
  • Expert SACT knowledge
  • Up to date knowledge of current professional issues


Desirable

  • Evidence of higher level of practice development within specialist area


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive previous experience of working within specialty area.
  • Experience of complex decision making.
  • Experience in communication skills in very emotive situations.
  • Experience where a degree of autonomous working has been required.
  • Experience of multi-professional working.
