Job summary

We are looking for an exceptional Service Manager with an extensive knowledge of RTT, Cancer and DM01 performance and management experience to join our team at SBH. This post sits with the Director of Operations and will assist in the day to day oversight across Bart's Heart, Bart's Cancer and Clinical Services Divisions.

You will be operationally responsible for track and chase oversight, reporting, trending, and teaching across Admitted & Non Admitted RTT, Cancer Somerset and Qlikview reporting systems as well as providing Service -wide leadership on specific system usage issues. You will therefore have well-honed performance management and teaching skills coupled with an understanding and appreciation of complex clinical pathways. You will also head up a range of service development initiatives directly as well as working with and through your teams, colleagues, and peers to deliver service improvement projects associated with each of our Elective pathways.

The post will be a permanent appointment.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Director of Operations and working closely with Divisional Managers, General Managers, Service Managers, PCCs and scheduling staff you will ensure that we deliver high quality, timely services, providing an excellent experience for our patients, and meet our regulatory and operational performancetargets

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the oversight of safe, high quality, efficient, timely and accurate delivery of key Access pathways.

In addition the post-holder will help drive the uptake of Statutory and Mandatorytraining for SBH, assisting staff who need help to access etc.

The post-holder will be a key member of the Director of Operations, operational team working collaboratively within fast-paced and dynamic systems.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Working at Band 7 or above for at least three years in an acute hospital setting, using CRS to manage patient pathways, including assisting/teaching others.
  • In depth knowledge and significant experience of the application of RTT pathways is essential.
  • Experience of successfully leading and implementing RTT improvement projects.
  • Experience of managing a budget in relation to outsourcing patients for mutual aid or to the Private Sector
  • Ability to understand complex issues, problem solve and propose solutions
  • Understanding of project management techniques
  • Well-developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams
  • Recent experience of managing groups of staff.


Desirable

  • Experience of Cancer and DM01 reporting systems.
  • Experience of using Wired for Stat & Mand training

  • Analysis of complex data to produce succinct information appropriate for its audience
  • Demonstrable achievements in managing change
  • Experience of participating in clinical governance initiatives
  • Ability to develop new ways of working
  • Used to producing analysis in numerical or graphical formats to a high standard

Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of continuing education and development.
  • Knowledge and awareness of issues affecting NHS acute hospitals re recruitment and retention of A&C staff who have a role in managing RTT pathways.
  • Demonstrable ability to evaluate and improve service quality


Desirable

  • Experience of putting together a business case and contributing to its implementation


Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or relevant level of skills and experience with an NHS acute setting.
  • Degree (completed or working towards)


Desirable

  • Recognised management qualification or equivalent experience


Other

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills suitable for a range of audiences, including chairing of meetings
