We are seeking Workstream Leads to play key roles in the implementation of the new Oracle Cerner EPR programme incorporating the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology.

Each Workstream Lead (LIMS) will be responsible for the delivery of the workstream, ensuring appropriate planning and support is in place to enable successful service transition and drive operational change whilst removing unwarranted variation.

The post holder will provide practical support to both the wider EPR Implementation Team and Laboratory teams across SYB Pathology network and will share functionality and anticipated configuration of the new LIMS and how processes could align. They will work as a liaison between the laboratory and operational service workstreams within the programme, various IT and Data teams and the system suppliers, Oracle Cerner.

We are looking for Workstream Leads for each of the following areas:
  • Blood Sciences
  • Blood Transfusion
  • Histopathology
  • Microbiology

The successful candidates will be from a Laboratory or Operational background preferably with knowledge and experience in LIMS implementation or extensive experience of managing a complex body of work, operational insight and programme/project management skills.

The post holders will have excellent analytical, organisation, communication and leadership skills evidenced by the ability to establish productive working relationships across organisations.

Main duties of the job

The Workstream Leads (LIMS) will ensure that appropriate planning and support is in place to enable successful service transition and will drive operational change whilst removing unwarranted variation. They will provide practical support to both the wider Implementation Team and laboratory teams across the SYB Pathology network and share functionality and anticipated configuration of the new LIMS and how processes could align.

The postholders will coordinate workstream activities to ensure alignment with other workstreams, identify interdependencies and assign mitigating plans where appropriate/required to ensure the plan remains on course for delivery within the agreed timeframe.

They will ensure systems and processes of the new LIMS are embedded into laboratory and clinical working. This will require the postholder to have a detailed understanding of service requirements, benefits realisation opportunities afforded by the new LIMS and to be able to contribute to local, Trust wide and SYB Pathology policy and protocol development to ensure both service and implementation needs are met.

They will develop Standard Operating Procedures, Trust and SYB Pathology policies which will relate to the safe and accurate implementation of the new LIMS and influence leadership at all levels to actively promote engagement around the Programme, utilising appropriate change tools

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period until 31 May 2026 due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Master's qualification or working towards a Master's or equivalent experience of working at Master's level.
  • Project Management qualification e.g. Prince2/previous project management experience.


Experience

Essential

  • Expert, knowledge and experience of LIMS Implementation in Specialist area e.g. Blood Sciences, Blood Transfusion, Histopathology, Microbiology.
  • Specialist knowledge, experience and expertise of information analysis and the use of information across the NHS.
  • Experience of leading large teams across areas of either operational services or digital transformation or both.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading successful programmes of work affecting multiple stakeholders.
  • Significant knowledge and experience of managing change and implementing new ideas.
  • Experience of realisation of benefits within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in a management role.
  • Previous responsibility for staff and budgetary management.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of digital services, operational management procedures and staff management.
  • Ability to analyse highly complex information from multiple sources where judgements/interpretation is required to produce reports or make recommendations of actions to senior management.
