We are looking to appoint passionate, enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Band 6 Registered Nurses who are either at the start of developing their leadership skills post their ICU course or have substantial band 6 experience and are looking for their first junior sister/charge nurse post.In order to equip you with the correct knowledge, skills and attitude to become a competent and confident Band 6 critical care Registered Nurse we will provide you with:* Supernumerary orientation programme that will be individualised to your professional needs.* We will send you on an ILS course * We will help you develop your leadership skills with our in house programme and support you to attend various NHS Leadership Courses.* We also offer a postgraduate Liver Course that is 15 level 6 credits. As you can see we are committed to developing and supporting a modern career frame work for our Nurses in critical care .and you will be supported every step of your critical care career pathway by our Clinical Practice education team and senior team.Applicants must be NMC Registered RGN, have a critical care course , relevant ICU experience , experience in teaching and mentoring, excellent communication skills and able to manage total patient care and work independently.

Job responsibilities
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To be responsible for the unsupervised assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of plans of care, ensuring high standards of evidence based care using a defined model of care.
To undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with Trust policies and ensure that these procedures and policies are understood and adhered to by all staff, within own management responsibility.
To communicate with patients and significant others with empathy and reassurance regarding, assessment, care and treatment.
To maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records using appropriate documentation.
To facilitate early discharge planning enabling appropriate arrangements to be in place for patients leaving hospital, making referrals and providing information to community services, as required, in order to achieve a safe and timely discharge from hospital.
Ensure safe custody and administration of drugs according to The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust policy and procedures, including intravenous medication where appropriate.
Supervise junior staff, or unqualified staff, in all aspects of care. Ensure that staff has the knowledge, skills and resources to carry out care delegated to them.
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to promote good communication and a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
To participate in the audit of the principles of the Essence of Care benchmarking process, and implement the action plans as required.
To ensure that the departmental co-ordinators are updated with clinical developments.
Implement safe working practices as required by the Health & Safety at Work Act.
To work with Lead and Senior Nurses, Bed Managers, Admissions and Infection Control to ensure optimal bed utilisation.
