Due to promotion we are able to offer a Deputy Lead Nurse opportunity for an experienced nurse to provide visible and supportive leadership to our teams based at St. Mary's Hospital. This would suit someone with significant experience in either gynaecology or an acute service speciality.

Our Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine service operates across St Mary's, Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea and Hammersmith hospitals. Specialities include general gynaecology and gynaecology-oncology wards, emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy care and a large and successful IVF clinic, as well urogynaecology, colposcopy, hysteroscopy and termination of pregnancy. Our highly skilled nursing workforce includes a quality and safety lead, a clinical practice educator, as well as a large team of nurse specialists.

You will be one of a team of three deputy lead nurses, supported by an experienced senior nursing team and have lots of opportunities and encouragement to develop new knowledge and skills. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse looking to progress on the next step of their career.

Main duties of the job

  • This role provides key strategic oversight for our Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine services. The post holder will oversee the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care focused on improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers.
  • The post holder will have continuous responsibility for the ward and outpatient areas, providing visible professional leadership and line management for teams of nursing and support staff and ensuring budgets and resources are managed efficiently and effectively.
  • The post holder is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, supporting the department managers in quality improvement projects and participating in taking forward the directorates quality and safety agenda.
  • The role combines clinical expertise and leadership skills with managerial, educational and professional responsibilities, liaising with the multi professional team to optimise patient care and the patient experience.
