Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Management Accountant working jointly with both Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and Solent NHS Trust, in advance of us joining together to become one organisation in April 2024. We are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our finance team in providing a high level of finance support to Primary care within both Trusts.

Working closely with both the finance and clinical/operational teams, this role will provide you with an opportunity to be part of a forward looking and innovative finance team that provides comprehensive advice and support in both Trusts.

Within Southern Health, the Willow Group consists of four long-established Gosport GP practices working together as one organisation, serving 36,000 patients, with a further 5th practice, Gosport Medical Centre who joined us in April. We also have Shakespeare Road Medical Practice in Basingstoke and Gosport Primary Care Network, which services the population of Gosport.

Solent NHS Trust has one combined GP practice serving 20,000 patients and operating out of 3 surgeries across Southampton.

Main duties of the job

The role involves ensuring both our expenditure and income are accurately apportioned and recorded, reconciling payments from the ICB to the relevant practice, and supporting with an open book accounting approach with the ICB.

The post holder will need to have excellent communication skills to assist them in dealing with a wide range of people and an interest in investigating and solving problems using a range of information sources and systems. They will also need to be comfortable discussing finance matters with non-finance managers.

Whilst experience with Primary Care is desirable, this role is suitable for any candidate with a good understanding and experience of financial management. We offer a competitive salary and pension, with significant training and development opportunities (such as support for professional accountancy qualifications). There are also a range of NHS discounts available to staff, a minimum of 27 days paid holiday plus Bank Holidays (pro rata), and other benefits such as Salary sacrifice lease car & cycle to work scheme.
