Job summary

The digital services and technology team within North Bristol Trust are moving the digital agenda forward following the implementation of an electronic patient record system. The next pahse of the programme includes digital patient portal, digital medicine management system and regional maternity system. These are exciting and forward-thinking digital transformations that need people to assist us in delivering system support and process enhancement.

You will be responsible for leading a team of System Implementation Specialists and you be responsible for defining the work of the team and supporting/coordinating work through to successful delivery to our customers. You will be required to work closely with our Clinical Transformation Specialists throughout to ensure the solutions fulfil the needs of our clinical teams.

As part of the role you will be responsible the use of agile tools and following methodologies aligned to SCRUM for the delivery of work items, this will involve a large amount of collaborative working with colleagues both within the team as well as more broadly across the IM&T department.

Main duties of the job

Examples of the skills and experience we are looking for are:
  • Analysing clinical and administrative staff processes.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements made available through digital transformation.
  • System design and build configuration.
  • Testing of system changes and upgrades.
  • Digital learning development and supporting staff throughout the Trust in the use of IT systems.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide quality support to all Clinical IT applications and the staff that use them.

- To be Subject Matter Experts for all supported systems and become experts for new systems that the Trust implements.

-To be an expert link between clinical best practice, and the design and implementation of the technical solution, through specialist knowledge of the issues and requirements of all parties.

-Manage process and workflow mapping, process re-design, including the generation of detailed systems requirement specifications.

Knowledge and Experience:

- The role requires an individual with proven experience of implementing successful IT Systems, with excellent knowledge around the systems life cycle. These disciplines will include, change management, testing, training and support and configuration

- Knowledge of, and/or experience in the NHS and health sector would be preferred. Experience of working in flexible and dynamic ways is essential as this role will be varied in many of its activities.

- The post holder must have experience of planning and organising their own day to day activities, including workload management, and formulating and adjusting plans to reflect changing circumstances.

- He/she must have experience of working with stakeholders, under very little guidance, especially in relation to the Support Services function.

- Able to understand the needs, objectives and constraints of customers in other disciplines.

-Experience of writing up conclusions around the abilities of systems that could solve a business problem.

- Experience in delivering IT application training to others and able to communicate complex IT Systems to clinical staff who often have little IT knowledge
