We are seeking a Consultant Clinical Psychologist to lead and develop community psychological services for older people in West Kent. As an experienced psychologist and older adult clinician, the post holder will provide professional, clinical, managerial and strategic leadership.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a large team (40+ staff) of psychological practitioners for older people in Kent and Medway including art and music therapists, clinical and counselling psychologists, systemic and CBT therapists, assistant psychologists and Clinical Associate Psychologists.
The post holder will provide clinical services at a high level of expertise, supporting and advising colleagues on all issues concerned with psychological practice for older people and providing expert clinical consultation and professional guidance to other psychological practitioners.
Within easy distance of the South Thames Clinical Psychology Training Centre, our service welcomes a large number of trainees and takes advantage of post-qualification training courses and events. There are also good links to undergraduate courses and student placements.

Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
Knowledge
Essential
- Ability to work effectively within multi professional teams, provide clinical leadership and promote effective team working.
- Ability to administer accurately and speedily, complex psychometric test materials including neuropsychological tests relevant to dementia.
Skills/Experience
Essential
- substantial experience working as a qualified psychologist.
- Experience of managing others.
